wow. was in europe for 2.5 months and started work right after i came back. din have the time or energy to write something here since. europe was brilliant and very beautiful. the best time of my life so far.
decided to change Summer Rain to version 2. ok i have no complains. i bought version 1 as A->B transport and it did its job. cant expect much performance from her yeah? it was a very beautiful journey. i learnt so much about my favourite hobby since young. all the meaningless modding and all the accidents. no major failures so far apart from a leaking coolant hose which prevented me from sleeping well the night before a major presentation. i din care about the warranty and serviced it outside. i repaired everything outside as well, all in the name of $$. korean engineering aint all that bad as the car din give much problems. but now the brakes and drive shaft are showing some signs of trouble. (im just trying to justify my itchy backside hahaha)
it had very cold aircon, and nothing else. sound insulation was crappy, power was seriously lacking. but hell it sure gave me a trouble-free A->B mode of transport. i really learnt alot. driving techniques as well as technical knowledge about cars. goodbye to my 1st love, i will remember you always!
and now version 2. i know i said she will have >200hp. so now im downgrading. <200hp and smaller engine cc in fact. the wrx is really cheap now but the maintenance is damn exp. guess i'll nv be the beng i always wanted to be. the >200hp car with the loud loud big big exhaust. anyways i upgraded in other ways, skipping japs and going to conti. they say once u go conti, u'll nv go back. i wonder if tts true for my case?
anyhow i had heard all the raving about the DSG gearbox and recently, i finally moved my butt down to leng kee to test it out. OMG it was SO DAMN GOOD i had the impulse to buy it on the spot. dual clutch manual transmission. this is THE transmission of choice in sports cars nowadays as its faster than a traditional manual, and u can drive it in full auto mode too. no more of the traditional auto gearbox with the rubbish torque converter and laggy shifts.
AND i also heard about volkswagen's absolutely brilliant twin-charged 1.4 litre engine. it has a supercharger for the low end, and a turbocharger for the mid and high end..... very linear pull with no lag or jerks in between. all the way to a redline of 7k. its absolutely brilliant and doubled my impulse to buy it on the spot. 170hp out of a 1.4 litre. simply amazing. i heard all the hype about the Golf GT, but i then discovered it had a version with a boot, the jetta! im SOLD! cos i dun really fancy hatches.
high car price(but its a conti!), high insurance(but its a sports car!), high interest rate(i was too late!). but low coe! it sold for near 100k 10 months back. buy buy buy! i had problems with the loan initially, but now its sorted! ok so its a conti. no more clutter. no more mods. esp dumb cosmetic ones. agent servicing (until i can no longer afford it or think its just too exp) perhaps i will do only coilovers and bigger rims, but even those will be in the far future. the only mod i will do in the near future is to debadge the car. hahaha.
however this time round, i dun really feel the urgency to get the car asap. maybe cos i already have a car to travel around in. in fact i think it is good to collect it later, as i have already paid the instalment for the current car for this month. maximise the $$ spent. hahaha. more imptly, i have more time to dekit my car. currently left with rims (the most impt one!). headunit and open pod sold. im pessimistic about the strut bar, springs and fog light since they are model specific and there arent many 2004 rios running around now. some one pls buy my rims! haha.
