Suay week

So I thought heaven was fair. I didn't get any summon for the red light camera. Hopefully. And deservedly so. I jammed brake with all my might. Not as though I put pedal to metal to beat the light. And yes heaven was fair. I had to spend $200 no matter what. Came down to the car last mon to find the front bumper dented in. Xiaodi had been fired months back, but lady boss quoted $180. Lo and behold, Randy pointed out the rear was dented as well. I thought he was joking, but no $650 is the cost, curse the lorry or van drivers to hell. Heaven is fair.

So I sprayed the car. And Tracy mentioned to check the reverse camera and audio when collecting the car. I didn't. In the end there really was no audio and the reverse camera somehow stopped working. Alan had to swap out the head unit due to lack of output signal. Out went the Pioneer processor and steering wheel module. But the reverse camera is fine. In went my previous DVR, rescued from the FD2 in anger. Then the reverse camera stopped working after grooming. And again after spraying. So I ultimately had to change it out in the end. Where's the fairness? Didn't tio 4D, hopefully toto does better.

I changed the keyshell at low gim han's. Which gained me keyless entry. Lol. Huge bang for buck mod. I just wanted the boot release. And the mod was cheap. I renewed my grooming package, although I didn't plan to. The polished headlamps and smooth like butter paintwork said yes. And the X emblems were not ordered in the end!! No stock! Argh! I did my alignment, ah ho was having a busy weekend, so no Weds Sport poison from him in the end. I even brought Tracy. Well save the $ first. And I'm still thinking of the GS300 BBK. ARGH.

2014 is coming to an end..

havent blogged in a longggg time. guess facebook has replaced blogs, and friendster. have plenty of stuff to pen down, but will keep it to cars lol. pretty big career move this year as well, might reflect on that in future, or perhaps not, judging from my post frequency.

i guess im in the mood to write during year ends. lol. carrying on from my previous post, i didnt change the rims in the end, nor even spray them. car is very much stock, as promised right at the beginning. creaking was traced to the front left lower ball joint. i spent alot on maintaining the car in 2013 and 2014. i dekitted the cracked J's front lip, which made the car lighter. i spent on the rear bearings, the aircon, the Racetech Design oil temp/oil pressure gauge and even a Sabelt 4-point harness, which i've not used till now. i had some fun at Sepang, but ultimately i wasted $ on replacing the Bardahl gear oil, the front N-brake pads, the rear right wheel bearing, the IK22G spark plugs.

the culprit: a red 335 with 19k mileage, 3 years COE remaining, 1 owner, going for 98k. alas it was sold after a week of dealer MIA, i had already posted the FD2R on sale, so i left it to fate. it had to go for a good price since i just spent on maintenance, 70k firm. ultimately it went for 68.8k, on the 1st day of my US honeymoon. pretty good price, i got back 18k, many thanks to Alan for all the help. so i had my fun for 10 days with the Sonic. 1.4T with 140hp, 200nm. pretty impressive at high speeds, very stable and well built. interior plastics werent the best, neither the 6 speed gearbox, but no complaints for Hertz's cheapest category. nifty pick up, and a huge boot when i was expecting a hatchback.

and i came back to no parking, no installment, no road tax and insurance to renew. but no car for work! million thanks again to Alan for lending me his picanto, brought back fond memories of my rio. 1.1L is really hopeless, no overtaking and no staying on the 1st lane, and a possible redlight camera to boot. but it beats taking the bus and train. i shant complain. so for the first time ever, i was aimless. not the cheapest brand new sedan in sg in early 2005, not the world-class 1.4 twin-charge DSG in early 2009, not the newest bomb-proof VTEC in early 2012. there were no other 1 owner 335s, no 1 owner CL7Rs as was the case in early 2012, 165k 328 was mightily tempting, but i couldnt bring myself to splurge at this point in time. 165k manual e90 M3 was ruled out due to much higher running costs than the 328, although it is my dream ride. 2 owners made it less than ideal. the FD2R was really the best car i can afford at this time, alas the wife/in-laws/parents didnt agree.

so the search came down to mark x, is250 and accord. is250 omv was only 5k higher than the mark x, but asking 10k more. lower output engine and same front seats, cramped back seats, no brainer. accord type s is 86k for 2010 model, not quite within my budget. i wanted a problem-free low-maintenance car, while i wait for 328 prices to come off. full cash so i didnt have to cope with installments. i wanted to view a maroon mark x with GS300 BBK and black interior, however the dealer already accepted an offer for it. i subsequently viewed 3 mark x in all, 38k black one didnt have 1 owner as advertised. 45k midnight purple one didnt have leather interior, and wouldnt budge on pricing. 35k maroon one was going for a good price, hence its fate that im buying a maroon car with beige interior. dealer/owner agreed to touch up the cracked dashboard, the torn driver seat, and the flaking wing mirrors.

many firsts!
- first non-inline4 engine. creamy V6. will love to try the inline6 or V8 next.
- first beige interior. i thought i would rather die than get a beige interior. it isnt that bad, i would have spent to rewrap in black, but there is less than 2 years remaining. i think i'll live with it.
- first FR car. havent tried drifting or even driving fast in it. im driving slowly in this 1.5ton tank for now. thankfully the engine and transmission doesnt feel that sluggish though im not stepping hard at all. its the largest car i've owned, i think parallel parking will be a challenge.

now for the mods. i wanted to replace the toyota logos on the rear boot and steering wheel with the X ones. not sure if this is simple, i read that the steering wheel one might be tricky. no lowering for this luxobarge. its on 17 now, which i think is a good size, though smaller than my previous 2 cars. i cant believe the rio was on 17. lol. i wanted to change out the rims, but i also keep thinking that there is less than 2 years remaining. decisions decisions. lastly, the GS300 BBK. 1.4-1.7k range brand new. and mahmat showed me a magazine article on this very mod today, which turned out to be collection day. fate? stay tuned... in the meantime, good night!
